Bay Ridge Republican activist speaks out on Linda Sarsour and her radical Islamist excuses about the Philadelphia police shooting by American Muslim thug

JANUARY 10, 2016

LINDA SARSOUR & LOCAL COMMUNITY MUSLIM “LEADERS” MUST CONDEMN VIOLENT ACTS IN NAME OF ISLAM

CAPANO SAYS SARSOUR WRONG AGAIN IN HER PUBLIC COMMENTS ON SHOOTING OF PHILADELPHIA COP

(Brooklyn, NY) – Bob Capano, who was the Republican, Conservative, and Independence party candidate against Councilman Vincent Gentile in 2009 and was the former Brooklyn Director of Community Boards, today condemned Community Board 10 member Linda Sarsour for stating that the recent shooting of a Philadelphia Police Officer was not a result of radical Islam, despite all evidence to the contrary.

Philadelphia Police Officer Jesse Hartnett, 33, was shot three times at point blank range by Edward Archer. The Philadelphia Police Commissioner stated that while in custody, Archer stated that he shot the officer “in the name of Islam…I follow Allah. I pledge my allegiance to the Islamic State. That is why I did what I did. Authorities also have said that Archer claimed police defend laws that are contrary to the Quran.  Over the past couple of days, Sarsour has tweeted that the shooting of Officer Hartnett was not the result of Islamic terrorism and “I commend Mayor Kenning for saying this is a criminal with a stolen gun who tried shooting a cop.”

Capano, who has previously condemned Sarsour for her participation in an anti-police protest calling them “racists” outside of Gracie Mansion last month, said, “We can not continue to be so politically correct that we are afraid to call these increasing acts of violence what they are- acts of radical Islam. How can we address this issue if we do not call it what it is. Linda Sarsour and all those who purport to be Muslim “leaders” must condemn violent acts committed in the name of Islam, as this one was in the shooters’ own admission.”

Sarsour has also been widely criticized for posting on her twitter account a photo of a Palestinian boy preparing to throw a rock at Israeli soldiers and calling it “The definition of courage.” She also wrote an op-ed piece titled “New Progressive Era Still Politics As Usual Regarding Israel”, where she criticized New York City Democrats for standing “with a handful of political elites to show unwavering support for Israel” against terrorist attacks from Hamas.

Capano said, “The residents of Bay Ridge and Dyker Heights deserve a Council Member will who will appoint members to Community Board 10 who whole-heartedly support law enforcement and do not have a pattern of making extreme comments supporting violence."

  3. UPDATE: THE “BEAUTIFUL SOUND OF SOME ECHOES” EDITION

CAPANO’S RECENT BLAST AT LINDA SARSOUR GETS A QUICK FAVORABLE RESPONSE IN THE LOCAL BLOGOSPHERE --- AND MY WONDERFUL INDEPENDENT GOP BLOG GETS MENTIONED TOO

THE BAY RIDGE JOURNAL PICKED UP BOB CAPANO’S PRESS RELEASE/ STATEMENT AND RAN WITH IT

Thanks to Kip and the Bay Ridge Journal blog for the tip of the hat to Galewyn Massey in their January 10th piece about Bob Capano’s slamming Ms. Linda Sarsour for her attempt to clean things up for American radical Islamists after Edward Archer’s botched attempted assassination of Philadelphia Police Officer Jesse Hartnett ( See “Capano: Sarsour a Radical Islam Denier” by Kip, 1/10/16, Bay Ridge Journal [http://bayridgejournal.blogspot.com/2016/01/capano-sarsour-radical-islam-denier.html]).

Here’s the meat and potatoes of the BRJ’s coverage of Bob Capano’s statement about Ms. Sarsour’s recent comments about the Philly police shooting: “…. The occasion was Sarsour's having "made excuses" for the ISIS-wannabe who tried to execute an on-duty Philadelphia police officer last week. Capano challenged that Sarsour and the local Muslim community have taken political correctness too far by refusing to condemn the attempted murder as an act of Muslim extremism…. Clad in a white thobe [robe], Edward Archer, who shot 33-year-old Philadephia police officer Jesse Hartnett three times at point-blank range, allegedly told arresting officers that he had acted in "the name of Islam; that he was a follower of Allah, and that he swore allegiance to the Islamic State…. Capano, who apparently Twitter-stalks Sarsour, accused her of tweeting that Hartnett's lethal actions were just criminal, not the product of radical Islam.... Capano, who ran unsuccessfully for Gentile's seat in 2009, condemned Sarsour, who sits on Community Board 10, for denying that Archer's actions were unrelated to Muslim extremism….”

  4. GM give it up already nobody cares about your incessant efforts to promote Capano.

  5. RESPONSE: THE "YOUR WORDS & MY STATS BELIE THE POINT" EDITION

MY BOB CAPANO POSTS HAVE VERY MUCH OUTPACED MOST OTHER TOPICS IN RECENT MONTHS

Posting a comment complaining about my efforts to prod and then praise (more than "promote" as such) Mr. Capano concerning certain things is out there for anybody to see and react to -- as THEY see fit (for example, take your own comment above at 6:34 AM).

However, your complaint seems to be aimed at my "coverage" of Capano's commendable efforts vis a vis Linda Sarsour --- AND THAT is something that is quite newsworthy on the local scene. I perused my stats on several of my Bob Capano - Linda Sarsour posts and find that they have been heavily viewed compared to the average post s on this blog. The most recent two are not exceptional in that regard, ie., the number of readers and commenters of those items are above average.

If some other local Republican does something as newsworthy as Mr. Capano, I'm sure that I would comment about it. Also remember, you can't beat something with nothing or somebody with nobody.

  6. GM I like Bob Capano but do you notice that you are the only one responding to your post about him?

  7. RESPONSE: THE "SOMEBODY CAN'T COUNT" EDITION

COUNTING THIS "RESPONSE," THERE ARE SEVEN (7) COMMENTS TO THE POST IMMEDIATELY ABOVE -- FOUR (4) ARE NOT BY ME --- TO PRIOR POST ABOUT BOB CAPANO BELOW, THERE WERE EIGHTEEN COMMENTS AND ELEVEN (11) WERE NOT BY ME.....

    'Nough said.....

    ReplyDelete
  8. Two of the seven are about Marty Golden the other three are clarifications from you amd the other two are about nobody caring about Capano. No one besides you have offered any feedback about Capano. More than enough said.

  9. OBSERVATION: THE "VERY VERY OBVIOUS" EDITION

YOU SEEM >>> VERY VERY INTERESTED <<< IN WHAT APPEARS ON MY BLOG ABOUT BOB CAPANO, HMMM !!!

I MUST SERIOUSLY PONDEER THIS --- YES, I SURELY WILL

Maybe, you caught me doing an overly simplistic quantitative analysis on the BOB CAPANO RELATED AND [NON-RELATED] COMMENTS..... AND, maybe, my analysis doesn't stand up to your much more rigorous qualitative & quantitative scrutiny..... (However, without a doubt, one of us is altogether too anal about all of this.)

On the other hand, my comment makers can say [almost] whatever they like in response to a posting or even the comments.

Maybe, you're right that have "promoted" BC too much. However, I like Bob and I like what he's doing about this Linda Sarsour character.

It's my blog and I'm comfortable with that. But I promise you that >>> I will take your admonition under very serious advisement. Yes, I surely will. (Now, maybe, I'll need some casual reading material, while I closet myself for some serious thinking; this could take a while.....)

  10. I also agree with Bob Capano aggessive positions on Linda Sarsour and it is amazing that he is the ONLY Republican taking her on. The fact that he has got as much attention as he has (Bay Ridge Eagle, this blog, jewish blogs, bay ridge journal, etc.) despite having no current title in district (like a staffer to a state senator) makes it even more noteworthy. Clearly the press and others see his past professional and personal positions as real credibility that shows overcoming a brief move to staten island will not be a large hurdle if bob decides to run. .i think capano has got more press on these sarsour issues over the past month than john quaglione got during his entire campaign.

    ReplyDelete
  11. I have a friend who knows justin brannan and he said he fears Capano the most because he has the best chance to attract democrats and independents because of his high profile roles working with Democratic Borough Presidents Howard Golden and Marty Markowitz.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Gail, I like Capano fine, and I even voted for him twice, but that was a few years ago. And, after all is said and done, he does still live in STATEN ISLAND. And he is also active in the Staten Island Republican Party because of his good friend Assemblywoman Nicole Malliotakis.

You need to stop yacking about Bob for a while, but YOU REALLY DO NEED TO TALK ABOUT THE ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM in all of this, State Senator Marty Golden. Or why shouldn’t I say THE RHINO IN THIS ROOM?

Golden looks like every other Democrat lately, because he's completely afraid of Linda Sarsour and her crowd of Arabs working against him. That's probably because he has made his own deal with the Bay Ridge Islamic Cultural Center, and Sarsour's home base is located right there.

I checked on Marty's official "Newsroom" Page, which is run by Golden's not quite in charge staff-guy Quaglione and there is nothing about Sarsour there at all. Whether she is attacking the New York City Cops, New York York City's Police Commissioner Bratton or clouding things up about the Muslim Philadelphia cop-shooter, Marty Golden has been quieter than a church mouse about all of it.

But, maybe, it's not Marty Golden's fault. It could be the state senator's spokesperson John Quaglione that's the shy guy about Linda Sarsour and all the NYC and Philadelphia police stuff. On that count, the score looks like Sarsour has QUAGLI-ONE, and Marty Golden and the people of Ray Ridge have NOTHING.

  13. Malliotakis is not fan of capano..think about it she shares an office with the Q

  14. Nicole Malliotakis has a good relationship with both Bob Capano and John Quaglione. Capano courtesy of the Castimatidis friendship and Quaglione courtesy of the Golden friendship. Both Bob and John are good guys.

  16. Bob is only showing how out of touch he is by going after Linda Sarsour. She is not going to be the Democratic candidate and is only helping raise her profile by "Twitter Stalking" her as was noted in the Bay Ridge Journal. Contrary to Bob's outdated sentiments the residents of the 43rd Councilmanic District are not losing sleep at night wondering what Linda Sarsour is going to say next. No one can blame Bob Capano for not knowing that since he lives on Staten Island and has for several years.

You dont get it..bob doesnt care if sarsour is going to be the dem candidate or not it doesnt matter he is using her to raise his profile and clearly its working..think about it he lives in staten island (right now) and is getting vast brooklyn coverage over this.. brilliant

It seems like you are in 100 percent agreement with capano and are upset that other local republicans arent saying the same things he is about sarsour??? You should be on board with Capano 2017, your only issue is he spent the last 2 or so years out of his 40 something years in staten island?? I think voters may not hold that against him

  24. RESPONSE: THE "HOT DIGGEDY-DOG" EDITION

ISN'T THAT A MONTH LATER THAN ORIGINALLY ANNOUNCED ???

AND MEETING IN A LUTHERAN CHURCH -- HOW QUAINT AND "I REMEMBER MAMA..."

Maybe, it's a leap year thing..... If I were less cynical and more clinical, I'd be interested enough to really try to do some digging -- but I'm not so I won't.

My generally disinterested sources don't have ANY answers about this group, which probably means that it's another of GOP State Senator Marty Golden's attempts to divide and conquer the Brooklyn GOP from the outside-in. BUT, that's only my guess; what's yours ???

For my part, I'm anxious to see who somebody thinks might make a good assembly candidate against the incumbent, Pam Harris, a black woman from the Coney Island projects in the supposedly white and mostly low-rise residential 46th Assembly District. So far, if I believe their comments on my blog, they primarily want an ABL Republican-Conservative candidate (That's not "able" misspelled, it's the acronym for "Anybody But Lucretia"). Again, that makes it look like it's a Golden thing. Again, that's only another of my guesses too. Same question as before ???

BTW --- It does seem odd that some very similar people to these new "Eisenhowers" seem so worried about a divisive GOP primary in 2017, but not one in 2016 that covers a lot of the same territory.

  25. FLASH--NEWS TIP: THE "RUT ROH, RAY RIDGE ROB SAYS SSMG MIGHT BE IN THE RAILY REWS SOON" EDITION

POLICE DISABLITY PENSIONS RUNNING IN MARATHONS..... MAYBE, SSMG IS IN THE CROSS-HAIRS OF AN ENTERPRISING DAILY NEWS WRITER --- MAYBE NOT !!!

You'd think this Daily News guy, Graham Somethingorother, who's been writing about cops on disability pensions would get around to State Senator Marty Golden one of these days.

After all, hasn't Marty's own disability pension from the NYPD been a political football for years -- and Marty always says he won't talk about it ??? And isn't Marty a key State Senator for Civil Service Pensions and stuff like that ????

Maybe, I should keep an eye on the newsguy, Graham..... (Hey, didn't he write for The Village Voice and didn't they look at this stuff years ago).

  26. The ABL Faction (Anybody but Lucretia) of the Brooklyn Republican Party consists of basically every Republican not involved with the LaGuardia Club. The Conservatives are very high on Kate Cucco so Golden could care less if Lucretia runs for the Assembly for the fiftieth time or whatever. Several good prospective candidates interested in taking on Pam Harris from what I understand and a couple of them not named Lucretia have run before but only once or twice not fifty times like Lucretia.

  30. UPDATE: THE “AND CAPANO DOES HAVE A MEANINGFUL DAY JOB” EDITION

THIS EVENING BOB CAPANO SENT OUT AN E-MAIL ON BEHALF OF HIS EMPLOYER, JOHN CATSIMATIDIS >>> IT CONTAINED A LINK TO AN MSNBC FEATURE ON MR. C'S SAYING THAT TED CRUZ SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF HIMSELF FOR DISSING NYC AND ITS VALUES

The MSNBC article by Jane C. Timm linked in Bob Capano’s 7:36 PM E-mail began like this: “Longtime New Yorker and Republican donor John Catsimatidis said Sen. Ted Cruz should be ashamed for insulting “New York values” in the Thursday night Republican presidential debate and in interviews…. ‘I think that whether you’re a Democrat or whether you’re Republican, that every New Yorker was upset about it. Because it was nuts!” the grocery store mogul and Republican donor told MSNBC on Friday afternoon. “A presidential candidate should not try and tear up the country by tearing up section by section.’…” Catsimatidis — best known in politics for big donations to conservatives and a failed mayoral bid in 2013 — gave the maximum $5,400 to Cruz this spring (as well as donating thousands to many other 2016 candidates, including Jeb Bush, Hillary Clinton, and Lindsey Graham), but said he was upset to hear the remark, which seemed to insinuate that the city was too socially liberal….” (See “New York Republican John Catsimatidis: Cruz ‘should be ashamed’ “ by Jane C. Timm, 1/15/16, MSNBC [http://www.msnbc.com/msnbc/new-york-republican-john-catsimatidis-cruz-should-be-ashamed]).

The linked article also dealt with various aspects of the fallout from Senator Cruz' remarks, and it contained multiple background items about John Catsimatidis' past interactions with GOP presidential candidate Cruz.

  31. Did it say what Bob had for breakfast yesterday or are you saving it for a slow news day?

    ReplyDelete
  32. Catsimatidis is a major donor to Andrew Cuomo, Chuck Schumer, and most other liberal Democrats. Catsimatidis being labeled a conservative is more insulting than Cruz's comments about New York.

  33. RESPONSE & QUERY: THE "SLOW NEWS DAY" EDITION

    WHAT ME WORRY.....

I have two questions: What's a "slow news day" ??? And does anybody know how I can find out what Bob Capano had for breakfast if it's not in his Catsimatidis E-mails ???

    ReplyDelete
  34. Speaking of the Catsimatidis- Capano relationship, one fund-raiser from the Cat Man for him and he is maxed out and then some. If that happens sooner rather than later that may eliminate a 2017 GOP City Council Primary..just sayin...

    ReplyDelete
  35. QUERY: THE " 'SPLAIN, LUCY, 'SPLAIN" EDITION

IT CAN'T BE ALL THAT EASY, CAN IT ??? MAX-OUT THE PRIMARY MATCHING FUNDS AND WALK INTO A NOMINATION UNCONTESTED --- THAT DON'T SOUND RIGHT

First, isn't the Cat-man limited in what he can give, like every other donor ??? So why would a Cats-sponsored fund-raising event be any easier ???

I don't think that Mr. C. has any special fund-raising expertise, he's just a big-fish donor. On the other hand, I'm sure that lots of hooked-up fundraisers will want to stay on the Cat-man's good side; and maybe, THEY can lend Bob a nice hand.....

    ReplyDelete
  36. Exactly. The max donation for council is about $2,500 per individual..If cat man does a fund raiser at his house as he does for others and 100 people come, do the math..CAP man is maxed out for primary and general with money to spare

    ReplyDelete
  37. Most of Cat-man's fundraisers at his house are generally attended by democrats on behalf of Democrats, they won't attend a fundraiser for a long shot Republican in a Democratic district.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Yeah maybe your right cats will do a fund raiser at his house and noone will come..LOL
