Making full use of social media and the internet, the Brooklyn GOP’s most notable spokesperson of late >>> BOB CAPANO <<< has weighed in on Ted Cruz' "New York Values" controversy, made so prominent by both Ted Cruz and Donald Trump at the most recent GOP presidential debate
Capano’s statement kicks-off a quick Democrat-Republican dust-up with another Bay Ridgeite also mentioned as a City Council aspirant
Showing a continuing willingness to take on public figures
for their controversial statements, Bob Capano has shifted his sights from a
target on the extreme left of the Democrat Party to one on the extreme right of
the GOP. He also has jacked the level of
the targeted opponent in front of him from
someone akin to a very local club
fighter, Linda Sarsour, up to a championship caliber puncher fully-accredited on
the national stage, Ted Cruz.
As he often does when making his public statements, Bob
Capano made a simultaneous announcements in the form of an
internet press release and as a more personal Facebook posting.
Here’s what
Bob had to say about the Ted Cruz remarks:
“The disparaging comments about New York by Ted Cruz in the GOP debate were
disappointing. As I have been saying for almost two decades of involvement in
Brooklyn and New York City Republican politics, we must work to create a
two-party town by demonstrating to voters the benefits of core Conservative
Republican principles like school choice, accountability in government, and
policies that promote job growth. This is the message Ted Cruz should have
delivered. We can not just give up New York to liberalism.”
A BAY RIDGE DEMOCRAT IS VERY QUICK TO RESPOND --- AND CAPANO PUSHED BACK JUST AS FAST
It’s quite interesting to note that Kevin Peter Carroll, one of the Democrats
mentioned as a leading candidate for the NY City Council seat now held by Vinny
Gentile, quickly responded to Capano’s
statement against the Cruz remarks with a general broadside against several nationally
prominent Republicans. For his part, Bob
Capano pushed back just as quickly using as examples of good New Yorkers several local conservative
GOP stalwarts.
Capano must be shilling for the NY GOP establishment and the local conservative party, figures.
ReplyDeleteWhat is bobs relationship these days with ferraro, eaton and kassar?
ReplyDeleteRepublicans certainly can give up New York to liberalism. That pretty much is what has been done by the R.I.N.O.[s] in the NY State Senate, like Marty Golden, aided and abetted by New York Conservative Party flunkies like Jerry Kassar.
ReplyDeleteBob should be in good with Ferraro he convinced Cats to write Lucretia a big check for her Assembly run.
ReplyDeleteIs Cruz petitioning in NY?
ReplyDeleteIs Trump?
Are these guys running for President of Iowa?
Seriously folks, in so many ways the Republicans have given up on New York, and as a result even conservative Democrats are disappearing very fast. There are only a few districts that anybody close to "conservative" can win in.
ReplyDeleteGail, you have gone [A Bridge Too Far] on this one. Bob Capano was pitching in his own slow pitch softball league with the Linda Sarsour stuff, but by taking on Ted Cruz in any way, Capano has gone way out of his league. At best, he just looks like he's jumping on somebody else's bandwagon and just parroting his boss, Catsimatidis. He also risks losing all Ted Cruz' supporters in Brooklyn.
ReplyDeleteAs for you, GM, just because Capano does a press release doesn't mean you need to cover it. This rated no more than an update to your last Capano posting.
I believe the comment posted at 10:11 was asking about the NY GOP primary.
ReplyDeleteIn case you havent heard there is a primary for President so anyone who gives up on one of the largest states in the country isnt really serious which begs the question. Is Cruz petitioning in NY?
RESPONSE: THE "I DON'T KNOW -- I DON'T KNOW !!!" EDITION
ReplyDeleteTO: "ANONYMOUS SAID... 1:26 PM"
BC THE NEXT MOVE IS YOURS
I'm not sure that I agree with what you are saying about Ted Cruz or anybody else and participating in the New York primary; and, since Bob Capano didn't say it, I don't know if it's even appropriate for me to agree.
Let's just leave it at "I don't know...." -- unless and until Bob Capano might do a press release about it.
Bob Capano is just a former resident of Bay Ridge. He hasn't done anything for Bay Ridge in years. He hasn't spoken out about any problems until he attacked Sarsour. Is that all he can find at fault in the area? Tell the Staten Islander there's no reason for him to cross the bridge this late in the game. Gail how about we throw some support behind a Republican from Bay Ridge?
ReplyDeleteThere are no other "Bay Ridge" republican candidates saying anything.
ReplyDeleteNo petitioning is needed this time for presidential candidates.
ReplyDeleteNew York has 81 delegates elected by voters and 14 super delegates being sold by Al D'Amato.
ReplyDeleteTo get on the ballot a candidate must file with Bd of Elections by Feb 16.
Trump did not file.
COLLATERAL MATTERS: THE “TICK-TOCK, TICK-TOCK” EDITION
ReplyDeleteGRAHAM RAYMAN AND STEPHEN REX BROWN CONTINUE SERIES ABOUT PEOPLE ON NYPD DISABILITY PENSIONS --- AND THEIR VERY INTERESTING HISTORIES AFTER THEY “RETIRED” WITH ON-THE-JOB RELATED “DISABILITIES”
SOON --- MAYBE WE WILL SEE THE WHOLE MARTY GOLDEN DISABILITY RETIREMENT STORY TOLD ANEW
On January 13, 2016, I wrote a comment about a tip that I’d received concerning a NY Daily News reporter who was talking to some people that I know. That reporter’s name, Graham Raymen, was given to me by one of my most reliable sources about upcoming news stories, in the NY Daily News and other city-wide papers. My source told me that Mr. Rayman and another News writer, were working on a series of articles generally about apparent abuses involving the NYPD disability pension system. I quickly looked at their most recent story (See “Department of Investigation opens probe into NYPD disability pension system after runner cop story” by Stephen Rex Brown & Graham Rayman, 1/13/16, NY Daily News [http://www.nydailynews.com/new-york/doi-opens-probe-disability-pension-system-article-1.2495151]).
Since that tip, another article has appeared in the Daily News dealing with a specific anecdotal story coming out of the NYPD disability pension system (See “EXCLUSIVE: NYPD cop who retired with bad shoulder is now bodybuilding and collecting disability pension” by Grayham Rayman & Stephen Rex Brown, 1/18/16, NY Daily News [http://www.nydailynews.com/new-york/exclusive-bodybuilding-ex-cop-disability-pension-article-1.2499877]).
It should now be told that the real import of my earlier comment, is that Graham Rayman (described in my earlier comment as “… Graham Somethingorother, who's been writing about cops on disability pensions…”) was asking quite a few questions from my source about State Senator Marty Golden, his history in the NYPD, and his current position in the NYS Senate and ability to control matters related to NYPD pensions. I really believe that Messrs. Rayman and Brown, and the NY Daily News will be getting around to telling some story that connects State Senator Golden to the rest of the matters dealt with in their series about NYPD disability pensions.
I read the daily news articles that pointed out if the disabled police officer recovers it does not impact disability payments as long as the recovery is not within 20 years of the day they started on the job. Started on job? This is when the bullshit starts.
ReplyDeleteHowever, this can easily be remedied by the state legislature.
However, Marty chairs committee on government pensions.
Let's face it Republicans in NY would be Democrats everywhere else, when Ted Cruz was talking about New York values he was referring to R.I.N.O.(s) like Bob Capano.
ReplyDeleteSo local republican candidates in nyc should run on ted cruz positions and ensure republicans hold zero elected positions in NYC..great plan!!
ReplyDeleteRepublicans hold zero elected politicians in NYC as it is.
ReplyDeleteNot true to above.
ReplyDeleteThe Republican have a Council seat in Queens.
And 2 in staten island..and an assemblywoman and state senator
ReplyDeleteRESPONSE: THE "GIVEN THE TENOR OF THE COMMENTS..." EDITION
ReplyDeleteI believe that comment-maker "Anonymous said... at 7:42 AM" probably knew that there were a few GOP officeholders in NYC....
However, I thought he or she was speaking with a healthy dose of irony.
Do we have any non R.I.N.O. elected officials in New York State let alone New York City?
ReplyDeleteRESPONSE: THE "LAW OF AVERAGES -- AND THE CAT'S GOT MY TONGUE" EDITION
ReplyDeleteThere must be a few.
What New York State needs to fix that is a conservative party...... Wait, a minute..... There's already a..... OMG, a mental block..... I can't type the words.
C... Con.... Cons...... No, it's no use, I can't.
I dont get it there is an open city council seat and Capano is the only one that is dominating local news coverage among potential GOP candidates
ReplyDeleteThere is an open City Council seat? Where would that be? As far as I can tell Gentile us in it through 2017. Maybe he will leave before, but frankly it's just a guess at this point.
ReplyDeleteRESPONSE: THE " 'OPEN SEAT' ISSUE" EDITION
ReplyDeleteBOB CAPANO'S CAMPAIGN FOR THE "OPEN CITY COUNCIL SEAT" (NOW HELD BY VINNY GENTILE) IS AIMED AT THE 2017 ELECTION FOR THE SPOT THAT WILL BE "OPEN" BECAUSE GENTLE IS TERM-LIMITED AFTER 12/31/17
"Open" - "Not Open" !!! What's the difference ??? --- As of this moment. Bob Capano is the only GOP candidate with his hat in the ring, seeking the GOP & Conservative Party nominations for the Bay Ridge-Dyker Heights City Council spot.
brooklyn republicans blast cruz article in brooklyn eagle
ReplyDeletehttp://www.brooklyneagle.com/articles/2016/1/20/brooklyn-republicans-blast-cruz-over-%E2%80%98ny-values%E2%80%99-sneer
I didn't see any actual Republicans in the article who blasted Cruz.
ReplyDeleteRESPONSE: THE "MISSING THE POINT" EDITION
ReplyDeleteTHREE PEOPLE WERE QUOTED IN THE BROOKLYN EAGLE ARTICLE ABOUT THE TED CRUZ COMMENTS: MIKE LONG; DAN DONOVAN -- AND -- BOB CAPANO
In the drip, drip, drip of media stories about this, that and the other, Bob Capano is doing a great job getting his name out there. And, he's doing a lot more than that, he's getting his name mentioned in various contexts, but always with the mention of his being a Republican from Bay Ridge, who ran for the City Council in the past and who has an interest in running for that seat in the future.
Compare that to somebody like John Quaglione, the most recent GOP-Conservative Party nominee for the Bay Ridge - Dyker Heights Council seat. He missed an opportunity to weigh in on any part of the Ted Cruz flap [and before that the Linda Sarsour thing]. Now, if going after Cruz in any way is too touchy a subject for JQ, perhaps a critique of the way the Brooklyn Eagle covered of those who did. For example, JQ could have pointed out [guessing it's his view, not mine] that no Brooklyn Republicans were quoted in the Brooklyn Eagle's article. Let's face it, he NEEDS to push back on Bob Capano somehow and sometime soon. Or else, Capano will have lapped Quaglione out of the 2017 City Council race sometime in 2016.
John, could have been very "factual": Conservative Chairman Mike Long isn't a Republican; and Congressman Dan Donovan and GOP activist Bob Capano both live in Staten Island, not Brooklyn. So, you see, it's "Not difficult -- EASY !!!"
Unfortunately, for John and the GOP, Qualione is frozen on a back bench somewhere in Marty Golden's District Office -- his bosses are the State Senator >>> AND <<< Conservative County Chairman Jerry Kassar. Whatever Quags might want to say, he needs to be sure that it fits the political agenda of >>> BOTH <<< his bosses. So, you see, John Q. is stuck to that back bench with Golden's Gorilla Glue; and he's also bound there by Jerry Kassar's Conservative Party duct tape. It's a real double whammy.
I'm still surprised that JQ didn't take the opportunity to at least chime-in that he agreed with Mike Long. After all, neither Kassar nor Golden could gripe 'n' whine about that. But, then again, maybe John Quaglione did something like that; and nobody noticed, because JQ's voice isn't big enough to be heard from way back on that bench he's stuck on in Marty's office.
The Brooklyn Eagle has all of three readers.
ReplyDeletethen why then John Q advertise in their during campaign???
ReplyDeleteeither it has more than 3 readers or he doesnt know how to manage his campaign $$.
has to be one or the other..which one?????????????????
Gail, why do you keep pounding down Brooklyn's own John Q. Public and throwing bouquets at Mr. Capano as if they are intra-party BROOKLYN Republican opponents? As far as I know, Capano still lives in Staten Island. If that hasn't changed, you need to stop all your pro-Capano stuff, unless you just enjoy trying to cause trouble.
ReplyDeleteActually one does not have to live in district (in this case brooklyns 43rd) to run. One only has to live in district before sworn in. So your point above is techically irrelevant. Capano can stay put and run and up to voters.
ReplyDeleteSTATING THE OBVIOUS: THE "NOW, WHO'S IN THE BEST POSITION TO KNOW THAT" EDITION
ReplyDeleteRE: "ANONYMOUS SAID... 8:28 AM" & "ANONYMOUS SAID... 8:35 AM"
I ask you, who do YOU think posted those last two comments back-to-back ???????
Bob Capano just rented an apartment in Dyker Heights and the Marlboro Projects!
ReplyDeleteBob getting food stamps also!
ReplyDeleteBob gets veteran benefits too
