“Bay Ridge” Bob Capano’s Letter to CB-10 Shines Bright Light on Problem of Radicalism In Our Midst

Islamic Radical Linda Sarsour’s rabble-rousing antics resulting in her arrest at Gracie Mansion highlight a growing alliance between jihadi-oriented Arabs and American Black radicals fomenting riots and other anti-police violence across the country

Letter to CB-10 also points up how far left the local Democrat-dominated planning board has swung

Even though Bob Capano’s E-mail announcement this morning is about the “Vast News Coverage...” of several of the interviews on his boss John Catsimatidis’ “Cats' Roundtable...” show on the radio, Capano deserves his own kudos for putting his own spotlight on a news story and problem that is closer to home for those of us living in Bay Ridge and Dyker Heights.

Of course, if you’ve been reading this blog or the local newspapers, you’d know that Mr. Capano has been publicizing the nefarious exploits of Bay Ridge’s own Islamic radical, Linda Sarsour  —  this time in connection with her out of control attacks on the NYPD, which resulted in her recent arrest and which are part and parcel of her alliance with the domestic Black radicals and trouble-makers that have been fomenting riots across the country throughout 2014-2015.

LETTER TO COMMUNITY PLANNING BOARD 10 CHAIRMAN

The most recent coverage of the Bob Capano-Linda Sarsour story appeared as a “Letter to the Editor” in the Courier Life’s “Brooklyn Daily” section, but it was really a “cc” of a portion of Bob Capano’s recent letter to the CB-10 Chairman Brian Kieran.

Capano thinks that it is necessary for the local board to reign-in Sarsour, who was recently arrested in an anti-cop demonstration at the Mayor’s residence – Gracie Mansion.  Sarsour has been increasingly vocal and active in her attacks on the NYPD.  Those attacks have run the gamut from her complaints about NYPD surveillance programs that were aimed at Islamic terrorists right here in Brooklyn, to her more recent rants on behalf of “Black Lives Matter” and the “Justice League of New York.”  Thanks to Bob Capano's efforts, everybody now knows that Linda Sarsour is a CB-10 member that was put there by the incumbent Democratic City Councilman, Vincent Gentile.

However, don’t expect very much to come of that.  CB-10 has slipped very far left lately – even though it is ostensibly being controlled by people identified as middle-of-the-road Dems, like Mr. Kieran, who also writes a Democratic-liberal column for the Home Reporter.

NOT A PEEP FROM GOLDEN OR HIS STAFF  —  NO LONGER ANY GOP INFLUENCE ON CB-10

Long-gone are the days when people like Craig Eaton held sway over CB-10. Now, it’s as if local Republican electeds, like Marty Golden, and the people on their staffs, like Jerry Kassar and John Quaglione,  no longer have any interest whatsoever in the community-based board for Bay Ridge and Dyker Heights. Once upon a time, things had been completely different. When Golden still cared about such things, he made sure that his interests were heard on CB-10; and that was long after he’d moved-on from the NY City Council to the NY State Senate.

If nothing else, Bob Capano’s push-back on Sarsour’s activities by way of his direct appeal to the Community Planning Board Chairman puts at least one local Bay Ridge Republican on the record in favor of the NYPD in the face of the growing attacks against them.

  1. You are reaching. Bob lives on Staten Island. He is Catsimatidis political operative and is all over the city. Bob Capano moved to Staten Island several years ago. Whatever happened to people saying he was going to run for Assembly and then City Council. Is that still a plan?

  2. RESPONSE: THE "YOU ARE SO BEHIND THE POWER CURVE" EDITION

WHAT SOMEBODY SAID ABOUT SOMEBODY ELSE IS NOT ANYBODY'S "PLAN"

CAPANO MOVED BEFORE -- CAPANO CAN MOVE AGAIN -- CAPANO RAN IN BROOKLYN BEFORE [FOR THE ASSEMBLY AND THEN FOR CITY COUNCIL] -- CAPANO CAN RUN IN BROOKLYN AGAIN

I happen to think that Bob Capano is thinking about running in Brooklyn again; probably, he is looking very closely at the race for the >>> OPEN <<< City Council seat now being kept warm by NYCC Member Vincent Gentile.....

Why do I think that ??? Well, I know what lots of words mean -- AND -- when I hear somebody like Bob Capano say things using lots of words, I think I understand most of what he is telling me.....

Does Bob Capano have a plan ??? He sure does..... Is he going to run ??? Probably.....

  3. Bob has not seen Brooklyn GOP leaders in years, whether it be Marty Golden or craig eaton or arnaldo ferraro..would any of them back him, I doubt it.

  4. Capano's last campaign activity was running the election day operation for Democrat District Leader Lew Simon in Queens against a Republican incumbent.

  8. Why do folks allways take time to mention that Bob is married now as if that is some sort of fantastic feat? Congrats, Bob! Glad you tied the knot, but, frankly, no body cares. Or maybe Bob is making a big deal of his nascent nuptials because folks were starting to think he was a gay male? Inquiring minds want to know. Or do they?

  9. If your talking about a letter I received in the mail from Bob on Friday about how council members need to appoint community board members who stand up for the NYPD, there was only one sentence that mentioned his wife..not sure that is making a big deal about it..I live on 92nd street and am an active Republican voter and liked the ltter

  10. Even Bob from Staten Island makes more sense than getting ready for another Lucretia candidacy.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Somebody told me that Lucretia and Arnaldo threw a pretty good Brooklyn GOP holiday party last week. It filled up their small 17th Avenue multi-use HQ.

  12. Gail, you haven't told us what happened to your man Bob Capano's letter at the CB-10 meeting. By the way, has Brian Kiernan even acknowledge that he received such a letter?

  13. Nobody at the Community Board cares about Bob's letter most of them probably don't even know about it maybe not even Linda Sarsour.

  16. Regardless of the validity of his remarks no one at CB 10 cares what Bob Capano thinks about anything. He overreached and made his intentions obvious.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Capano antics would have worked in Bay Ridge 30 years ago.
Lets not forget Obama carried the Ridge.

    ReplyDelete
  18. And so did DeBlasio.

    ReplyDelete
  19. So did Golden and so did Malliotakis. Even Dan Donovan came close to beating Gentile on his home turf. Bay Ridge still middle of the road. Brannan Sarsour and Carrol gonna have to move if they want to be in the City Council.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Oh! Oh! Oh! What about Johnny Kews, isn't he gonna have to move if he wants to be in the City Council. too?

Wait one minute, they ALL can't be in the City Council. Or can they?

  21. Quaglione ran against a hugely popular entrenched incumbent and made the mistake of embracing Lhota at the top of the ticket. A speech from Lhota could cure the most panic driven insomnia into a god night's sleep almost instantly. All the other Dems mentioned above are hard core liberals to the left of DiBlasio, Gentile the Ridge can live with but Brannan, Caroll, and Sarsour not so much.

  22. RESPONSE: THE "HUGELY POPULAR" EDITION

NO POLITICIAN, WHO HOLDS PUBLIC OFFICE, IS SO "HUGELY POPULAR" THAT THEY CAN'T BE DEFEATED BY AN ATTRACTIVE OPPONENT, RUNNING A PROPERLY TARGETED, WELL EXECUTED AND FULLY FUNDED CAMPAIGN

SOMETIMES THAT COMES IN A GENERAL ELECTION, SOMETIMES IN A PRIMARY

Every election cycle presents an opportunity to begin the telling of NEXT cautionary tale.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Quaglione aligned himself with Lhota, a candidate so disastrous that many voters stayed home as a courtesy to Lhota so that they wouldn't have to vote against him.

WHAT IF MARTY GOLDEN HAD RUN FOR SOMETHING IN 2013 ???

Sorry, it really seemed like an obvious question.....

    ReplyDelete
  26. Same answer, no Republican was going to win in Brooklyn in 13.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Keep repeating it like a silly mantra. Maybe it will provide balsam for the shellacking the local Democrats took in 2014.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Local Dems won every race in Brooklyn that was contested.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Golden beat Kremmerer by 65 points! Malliotakis beat Meendez by 25 points in the Democrat heavy Bay Ridge part of their Brooklyn District and even Michael Grimm! Michael Grimm lost Bay Ride by a couple of points. In the special election even Dan Donovan almost beat Gentile on his home turf. Forget balsam after the shellacking the Democrats took you need some Vaseline.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Malliotakis opponent was blind, any other Democrat who could see would have done better. Political deal with her bestie Diane Savino had something to do with that. Golden's opponent was worse than the blind challenger Malliotakis had, at least she had an excuse. The Dems were better off running nobody against Marty, no opponent would have got more votes. For all the money Recchia had putting it into a few speech lessons would have probably got him a few more votes against Grimm here. Donovan got routed on Vinnie G's home turf, you may want to check that. Once again in all the contested races in Brooklyn local Dems won.

TO: ALL THE CHRISTMAS EVE COMMENTERS ABOVE [EXCEPT FOR ME]

None of the non-incumbents running against incumbents in 2013 and 2014 was "... AN ATTRACTIVE OPPONENT, RUNNING A PROPERLY TARGETED, WELL EXECUTED AND FULLY FUNDED CAMPAIGN..." That includes some opponents, who had held different elected offices and who had been considered "hugely popular" in their own right as incumbents in those other spots.

BTW, what happens if the "hugely popular" Vinny runs against the "hugely popular" Marty for the State Senate in 2016 ???

    ReplyDelete
  32. Gale exactly in none of the contested races local Dems lost in 13 or 14.

  33. I love how the loony local leftists and their axe grinding sympathizers have to change their stories and peddle more bs and silly excuses when confronted with actual electoral outcomes from he BOE. Conservative Republican Senator won Bay Ridge in landslide Conservative Republican Assemblywoman won Bay Ridge in a landslide. Gentile had very disappointing showing in Bay Ridge against Donovan. And it is also my pleasure to remind everyone that Gentile the most Conservative Democrat on the City Council.

  36. Let the Haters Hate. Means Nothing. Bay Ridge still a fairly conservative area. All the petulant little insults and rumor spreading won't change that.
    Merry Christmas!

    ReplyDelete
  37. If Bay Ridge is such a fairly conservative area how do you explain DeBlasio beating Lhota and Teachout carrying Bay Ridge in the democratic primary over Cuomo?

    ReplyDelete

  38. What does this comment from above mean: Malliotakis is far from conservative, especially with the lifestyle Malliotakis lives

    ReplyDelete
  39. To the poster at 10:43. Lhota not a conservative he is a libertarian and the most soporofic mayoral candidate ever. Lhota's first commercial focused how similar he is to DiBlasio. As for Teachout doing well it makes sense. While Bay Ridge is conservative the few liberals that exist are so loony and to the fringe that a candidate like Teachout would be a natural fit.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Teachout will be the next Governor of NY.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Yeah right. Teachout will be Governor.

And Bernie the commie will be President

  45. Capuno did a mailing to prime Republicans is that what I hear? Well, golly! I'll have to make certain the boys over at the Campaign Finance Board know about this one. Surely, this expenditure will count against his cap when he runs and falls flat on his face for Assembly next year. John Q. is the only guy who can carry the water and he got here the old fashioned way: he's earrrrned it!

    ReplyDelete
  46. Regarding comment at 12:35 shows how out of the loop you are. Aside from perennial candidate Lucretia Regina Potter, there are several other Republicans interested in running for Assembly in the 46th and none is named Bob Capano or John Quaglione. Should be interesting.

  47. RESPONSE: THE "I REALLY DOUBT THAT" EDITION

TO: THE VERY LATE IN THE GAME COMMENTERS ON THIS THREAD -- "IT'S BEGINNING TO LOOK A LOT LIKE CHRISTMAS, EVERYWHERE I GO...."

"Well, golly..." is surely AN expletive that somebody might use, I suppose --- it's just not the one I'd choose for all this jazz and razzmatazz: "Capuno..."; "... I'll have to make certain..."; "...Campaign Finance Board... expenditures... cap... Assembly next year...".

Also, I think somebody lost us at "several." As in >>> "... there are several other Republicans interested in running for Assembly in the 46th...."

    ReplyDelete
  48. Chairman Mike Long said it himself: Capuno is a schlub. If Capuno really thinks he can move back to the district and set the town on fire he's got another thing comin. The guy is just a snoozebore. 2009 was a lifetime ago when he ran against Little Vinny Gentille and got trounced. I am not sure who Capuno is listening to or who his advisors are but whoever is telling him to move back to the district and make a play for that council seat next year is really setting him up for a good laugh. Maybe it's that Impractical Jokers show, their from Staten Island, are they not?

Quaglione gets first right of refusal becos he took one for our team against Little Vinny in 2013. Nobody is waiting for the Capuno Comeback. A comeback, by definition, is a "return by a well-known person to the activity in which they have formerly been successful." Capuno is not well-known and has never been successful.

I'm just sayin. I like John Q's chances.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Capano not running for Assembly it would be hard to make a case for City Council after losing another election. GM partially out of loop. Some familar and not so familiar names may step in regardless whether Bob or Lucretia run.

    ReplyDelete
  50. 7:50 am is obviously a john q supporter, shows the problem with Q he cares more about what mike long and conservatives say rather than republicans...capano advisors are probably same ones who did the Turner campaign with some high priced Catsimatidis folks thrown in not the same old same old that Q relies on.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Mike Long isn't a Republican, and if he said anything about who the Republicans pick for the City Council, he needs to shut up.

    ReplyDelete
  52. But hopefully not the same people who ran Bob Turner's embarrassing loss to Wendy "Who" Long in the Republican Senate Primary. Probably the same people who ran Lucretia's 15 campaigns.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Is Capano or Capuno? I'm confused-o. And is the guy married or not? I always thought he played for the away team like Vinny Gentile.

    ReplyDelete
  57. "Fake names"? Everyone posts as "anonymous". Whatever happens may the best candidates win. We need the City Council seat in 2017 and we need to run a credible Assembly candidate in the 46th, perhaps someone who ran for it before but not named Bob or Lucretia.

“Anonymous said... Some of the comments above indicated that there are several candidates just champing at the bit to run for the NYS Assembly from the 46th AD. When I said that I just don’t buy it, the response was that I’m not in everybody’s loop on this.....

Hey folks, here’s a flash — at any given moment, Galewyn Massey’s in nobody’s loop about anything. If people call us and tell us stuff, then we’re in the loop; if they don’t, we’re not. I hope y'all get that --- this isn’t rocket-surgery !!!
