Also --- latest poll puts Trump ahead of the rest in GOP race in North Carolina
According to a report in Newsmax, "Billionaire Donald Trump is leading the Republican field in the latest national poll from The Economist/YouGov.... Trump is four points ahead of former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul, who are tied for second place, in the poll taken July 4-6 of 1,000 registered voters...." ( See "Economist Poll: Trump Leads GOP Presidential Field" by Courtney Coren, 7/9/15, Newsmax [http://www.newsmax.com/Newsfront/economist-poll/2015/07/09/id/654285/]).
Cortney Coren's piece in Newsmax went on to say that two-thirds of those who gave Trump as either their first or second choice, also said that they are Tea Party supporters, and several others of Trump's supporters identified as "very conservative." All of which probably means that Mr. Trump's recent comments on immigration through Mexico might be hitting a nerve among GOP voters.
Courtney Coren also reported that ".... Trump's favorable rating has also increased in recent weeks. In mid-June, 38 percent of Republicans had a favorable view of the reality TV star. That number has since jumped 11 percentage points, with 49 percent of GOP voters now saying they view him favorably...."
In spit of all that good news, many Republicans don't believe that Trump will actually win the GOP nomination. The Newsmax data was that ".... [o]nly 7 percent of registered Republican voters think Trump will be the GOP's presidential nominee in 2016. Twenty-nine percent said it will be Bush, 12 percent expect Paul to win the nomination, and Rubio and Walker are tied with 8 percentage points...."
The Newsmax article also noted that ".... Trump is also leading the GOP field in North Carolina, according a new poll by the Public Policy Polling group."
looks like its a lock for Pataki

MEANWHILE NEWSMAX SAYS TRUMP'S NUMBERS WON'T LAST
According to a report in Breitbart News, "Support for GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump continues to spike, causing the campaign to change venues for its Saturday event.... 'Due to the overwhelming response for Saturday’s Rally in Phoenix, Arizona the venue has been changed to accommodate the thousands of people expected to attend and the event will now take place at the Phoenix Convention Center,' Trump’s press secretary Hope Hicks wrote in a press release...." The Breaitbart article goes on to say, ".... Also due to Trump’s growing support, he’s formed a South Carolina Steering Committee.... In a press release Thursday, Trump’s campaign announced, 'The rapidly growing list includes over 100 members from across the state and represents a cross-section of well-known fiscal and social conservatives.'... 'Since Donald Trump announced that he is running for President we have been overwhelmed by the enthusiastic support. The campaign is off to a fast start and we couldn’t be more excited,' said State co-Chairman Ed McMullen. 'Voters across South Carolina recognize that this country needs someone, like Donald Trump, who can Make America Great Again!'...”
Meanwhile, it looks like Newmax is out there trying to rain on "The Donald's" parade. It starts of okay --- "Donald Trump's controversial rhetoric is winning him points in GOP presidential polls, but not with the Republican establishment or with many in the businesses community who have cut ties with him following his comments linking illegal immigrants to crime.... Experts were divided on Trump's impact and staying power on Thursday's edition of 'The Hard Line' on Newsmax TV.... RYAN GIRDUSKY QUOTED HYPING TRUMP AND TRASHING BUSH
One of our "Local Heroes" from our Brrklyn GOP beat, Rayn Girdusky, was even quoted by Newsmax as follows: "Ryan Girdusky, contributing writer for RedAlertPolitics.com, said that what Trump is doing isn't mischief, but populism.... 'That's what Donald Trump is selling, and that's what the American people want,' Girdusky said. 'It's very easy to dislike Donald Trump. He has a very jerkish behavior. That is what made him a success and a reality star.'... Trump is resonating with the working class, especially male voters, Girdusky said. 'It's the same reason Bernie Sanders is resonating.… This is the season for populism in this country.'... Jeb Bush, on the other hand, is out of touch with the GOP and is 'running in a Republican Party of the '90s, and it doesn't exist anymore,' [Girdusky] said...."
Nonetheless, Newsmax closed with an expert that clearly was its sentimental favorite --- Ford O'Connell; and O'Connell has no use for Trump in the long run.

ANOTHER POLL PUTS TRUMP ON TOP TIED WITH BUSH --- MEANWHILE TRUMP AGAIN HITS HARD AT MEXICO AND ANYBODY WHO'S BEEN WEAK ON IMMIGRATION AND BORDER SECURITY
Donald Trump continues to be the Eight Hundred Pound Gorilla in the Republican room. On Saturday, a Newsmax report showed that " Donald Trump, who became the center of attention in the race for the 2016 Republican U.S. presidential nomination with his denunciation of illegal immigrants from Mexico, has vaulted into a virtual dead heat with Jeb Bush atop the field, a Reuters-Ipsos poll released on Saturday showed.... Trump, a billionaire real estate developer, had the support of 15.8 percent of respondents in the online poll of self-identified Republicans compared to 16.1 percent for Bush, a former Florida governor...." Here's how Time Magazine put it: "The real estate celebrity does not tone it down.... Donald Trump is not going anywhere.... Casting himself as more than a billionaire real-estate magnate and reality television star on his bid for the White House, Trump claimed Saturday to speak for a “silent majority” of Americans who are frustrated with the direction of the country.... Rather [than be] deterred, he appeared energized by the pushback his candidacy has received from the Republican Party and his primary opponents after suggesting weeks ago that many who have entered into the U.S. illegally are “rapists.” In a rambling speech to a crowd of thousands in the Phoenix Convention Center, he struck a potent combination of populist and protectionist policies, designed to tap into the undercurrent of unease within American society...."
