[THAT'S RIGHT, IT WAS TOO LONG TO FIT AS A COMMENT TO THE THREAD BELOW] ALSO, EVEN THOUGH IT'S CLOSER TO PIED PROSE THAN POETRY --- MAYBE, JUST MAYBE, THERE'S SOMETHING TO IT
IF THE HILLARY FOLKS WERE HONEST, THEY'D ADMIT THAT THE MOST RECENT HILLARY ROLL-OUT ISN'T WORKING ALL THAT WELL --- JUST LOOK AT HILLARY, THE EMPRESS HAS NO NEW CLOTHES ON OR OLD CLOTHES EITHER --- AND IT ISN'T A PRETTY SIGHT, ALL THOSE WRINKLES [IS THERE STILL TIME FOR A NIP 'N' TUCK ?]
BUT WHAT IS IT THAT IS CAUSING HILLARY'S SCOOBY VAN'S WHEELS TO SEEM SO FLAT ? --- ACCORDING TO SOME PEOPLE FROM MONTY PYTHON LAND --- IT'S THE SATIRE NOT THE SCANDALS THAT ARE TAKING THE WIND FROM BENEATH HILLARY'S WINGS [NO, DON'T CUE BETTE MIDLER] AS SHE TRIES TO TIP TOE THROUGH THE TULIPS [NOW, CUE TINY TIM]
WAIT A MINUTE... [NOT TINY TIM -- CUE MAUREEN DOWD SINGING "HOW LOVELY TO BE A WOMAN" FROM BYE BYE BIRDIE]
According to the folks at "The Telegraph," serious stories about Hillary don't seem to attract as much attention as stories about her day to day screwups, like the failure to leave a tip at Chipotle or the big sun glasses she wore while she did it [or should that be didn't do it ?].... (See "Why satire not scandal could derail Hillary Clinton's campaign" by By Matt Lewis, 4/16/15, The Telegraph/ [http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/hillary-clinton/11547099/Why-satire-not-scandal-could-derail-Hillary-Clintons-campaign.html]).
The article by a fellow named Matt Lewis [yes, the same "Matt Lewis" as "Daily Caller]went on to say that "... [i]n 2008, it was widely perceived that Mrs Clinton's sense of entitlement cost her the White House. So this time round, she is making a concerted effort to appear "normal". After announcing her candidacy, Mrs Clinton and her entourage took a 1,000 mile road-trip in a van she dubbed the "Scooby Doo van" (presumably named after the "Mystery Machine" driven in the classic children's cartoon). En route, she made a pit stop for a chicken burrito bowl at a Chipotle Mexican Grill restaurant. *** But her efforts backfired. Mrs Clinton didn't shake hands with any of the employees – or leave a tip.... " [What nobody really doubts is that Hillary is one cheap bitch; and Huma doesn't seem so generous either].
Believe it or not, that story received more than four days of media buzz and even some comedic treatment across America.
Matt Lewis concluded with this: "The funny thing is that some serious news involving Mrs Clinton came out this week, but has mostly elicited yawns. First... that she had simply ignored congressional inquiries into her use of private emails during the time she was serving as Secretary of State.... Second, it was reports [about more problems from] the Clinton Foundation.... None of these "serious" stories garnered as much coverage or commentary as her failure to leave a tip at Chipotle. This is both a commentary on the American public and the American media. But it's also a warning to Mrs Clinton about how it will be the little things that kill."
MAUREEN DOWD SAYS ALMOST THE SAME THING IN A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT WAY IN TODAY'S NY TIMES
The long-time Hillary Clinton critic kicks off her Times Op-Ed column this Sunday with this: "THE most famous woman on the planet has a confounding problem. She can’t figure out how to campaign as a woman...." And Dowd continued, "In 2008, Hillary Clinton took advice from two men — Bill Clinton and Mark Penn — and campaigned like a man. Worried about proving she could be commander in chief, Hillary scrubbed out the femininity, vulnerability and heart, in image and issues, that were anathema to Penn. Consciously tamping down the humor and warmth in Hillary and playing up the muscularity and bellicosity, her strategist modeled Hillary on Iron Lady Margaret Thatcher...." (See "Granny Get Your Gun" Mareen Dowd, 4/18/15 [in the 4/19/15 Edition of the NY Times], NY Times/ SundayReview - Op-Ed [http://www.nytimes.com/2015/04/19/opinion/sunday/maureen-dowd-granny-get-your-gun.html?_r=0]).Dowd goes on to describe some of the SNL stuff (satire) by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler culminating in this grand old quote, "...Bitch is the new black..."
And if Dowd's article concluded with its penultimate paragraph life would be indeed be Benigni-world beautiful -- "... As she hits the trail again, Hillary is a blur of competing images, a paean to the calibrated, artful and generic, a low-key lady who doesn’t stand for anything except low-keyness. She has seen, over and over, that overcorrecting can be self-defeating for her and parlous to the nation, but she keeps doing it...."
But Dowd shows that, after all, she is a liberal or a progressive or a feminist or whatever.... Like Newsweek's writer did yesterday, Dowd pulled her punch on the girl (or is that old lady, now) that we all love to hate -- HILLARY. Here's what good old MD said at the end: "Let’s hope that the hokey Chipotle Granny will give way to the cool Tumblr Chick in time to teach her Republican rivals — who are coming after her with every condescending, misogynist, distorted thing they’ve got — that bitch is still the new black."
Next time, Maureen [please. let me call you only by your first name], when you write about Hillary, follow your own advice, show HRC that bitch really is the new black. We Republican guys will like you even more than we do already -- and that's really all that counts.
First, Dowd is no feminist. So lets correct the record on that misstatement in your "feature Post". Dowd has zero credibility as a political writer. Most see her for what she is.
ReplyDeleteSecond, the 2016 Hillary for president campaign roll-out has been described as perfection even by Republican critics. She is on fire and electrifying everywhere she goes. America is now getting to know and see the real Hillary - a woman of working-class roots who has dedicated her entire life to making our nation better and more secure and prosperous.
Btw, women like Hillary embrace their wrinkles because each one represents the tireless hard work of dedication to our great country. A woman with a few wrinkles is a thing of beauty. Hillary exemplifies that beauty.
On to New Hampshire and another week of lead stories on every news channel. Rock star status.
SU-U-U-U-RE... ANYTHING YOU SAY....
ReplyDelete"...ON FIRE..." Didn't Edith Bunker have that?
ReplyDeleteWhat did Archie call it? Wasn't it "The Menopause."
Isn't Hillary way way past that?
"TIPGATE" Edition.
ReplyDeleteIn 2008, the last time Hillary lost. stories unfolded about Hillary not tipping after eating. As you can tell, she seldom misses a meal.
I think failing to tip the little guy says a lot. It shows lack of concern for the less fortuante.
No one tips at a Chiptotle. Your GOP desperation is so sad.
ReplyDeleteTweet:
GOP blogger makes typical reference to Archie Bunker in sad attempt to find scandal that doesn't exist.
There is only one "Archie Bunker" comment above; I double-checked. How is the Archie Bunker comment a sad attempt to find scandal that doesn't exist, or even to find a scandal that does exist?
ReplyDeletelets get hillary & christie on a see saw. thats a contest id like to see
ReplyDeleteHillary Clinton our next president is looking fabulous. Everyone says so and you know it too. I bet you all above are those Republicans who are secretly in love with Hillary.

hot for hillary?
ReplyDeletemakes a lot of sense.
When was Bill Clinton last "Hot for Hillary"? It couldn't have been when he was being wined, dined, realigned and redefined on Jeffrey Epstein's "Lolita Express" -- his smile was two big.
ReplyDeleteYour crude remarks are totally irrelevant to Hillary Clinton's candidacy and campaign.
ReplyDeleteReally, grow up and focus on the issues that matter for our country.
Hillary is Fab 2016
You said that you thought some of us were secretly in love with Hillary.
ReplyDeleteNow your talking about Hillary being Fab.
I agree, she's like one of girls on Ab Fab that keeps falling down because of pills and booz
Hillary Clinton has a problem if she can’t figure out how to campaign as a woman.
ReplyDeleteWhy would a feminist woman writer for the New York Times say that?
Because Maureen Dowd is a half a nut. Shanty lace curtain Irish that's what she is.
ReplyDeleteIrish Women For Hillary 2016
Maureen speaks well of you.
ReplyDeleteMORE BACKFILL: THE "WOMAN AT THE NY TIMES THAT HILLARY MIGHT REALLY NEED TO WORRY ABOUT" EDITION
ReplyDeleteWHILE THE PRO-HILLARY FOLKS, LIKE THOSE AT THE "HRC SUPER VOLUNTEERS," ARE MAKING LOTS OF NOISE ABOUT MAUREEN DOWD'S SORT OF HEAVY COMMENTARY ABOUT HILLARY, ANOTHER TIMESWOMAN IS DOING YEOMAN'S DUTY ON SOME VERY IMPORTANT HILLARY CLINTON STORIES --- AND SHE DOES HER HILLARY STORIES AND PORTRAITS "WARTS AND ALL" --- MUCH THE WAY MARGARET D.H. KEANE DID HER "WAIFS" WITH "BIG EYES"
BTW, THAT WOMAN REPORTER AT THE NEW YORK TIMES IS ALREADY ON THE HRC SUPER VOLUNTEERS' RADAR SCREEN --- AMY CHOZICK WAS BRIEFLY PART OF THE NEWS A FEW WEEKS AGO WHEN SOMEBODY FOR THE SUPER VOLUNTEERS SENT CHOZICK AN E-MAIL WARNING HER NOT TO USE "CODED SEXISM" IN HER REPORTING ON HILLARY CLINTON, ALONG WITH A LIST OF ABOUT 13 OR 14 FORBIDDEN WORDS AND PHRASES, AND AN OMINOUS FOLLOW-UP E-MISSIVE THAT THEY WOULD BE WATCHING
Several of the comment makers above seem to have a real problem with NY Times columnist Maureen Dowd because they don't like Ms Dowd's often- critical take on Hillary Clinton.
As I noted in my main post above, it's the comical, satirical and ironic portraits, caricatures and parodies of Mrs. Clinton that might well be her undoing; and which, to date, appear to have had more traction than the more substantive negative disclosures about the former First Lady, U.S. Senator, Secretary of State, and a once and once-again Democratic candidate for POTUS.
By that metric, and having her Times column as her "Bully Pulpit," Maureen Dowd probably is the most threatening woman to Hillary Clinton at the Times.
However, since I do still have some faith in some of the investigative reporters in the MSM in general, and at the NY Times in particular, I think that the one female working at the Times who is closest to having a "Book" on Hillary Clinton is Amy Chozick. And given the background of what she has already done on her subject, Chozick has the background to dig deeper and come up with much more; or at least, do her reports on the disclosures by others, with significant depth, background and nuance.
Hillary has a pathological fear of revelations of not-very-well-buried facts. --- Amy Chozick has a track-record of digging-out facts and making the revelations of those facts a matter of record in the New York Times. So my guess is that Amy C is more likely to be the Timeswoman that Hillary C needs to fear the most.
Another disgruntled Tea bagger who works for Breitbart the news site for the uneducated writes a smear book filled with bizarre conspiracy theories about the Clintons. What else is new? Oh yes, according to this blogger Hillary Clinton has wrinkles.
ReplyDeleteHillary Rodham Clinton was raised in a working class family with parents who often struggled to make ends meet. She was taught to work hard and it will pay off. So this girl from working class roots attends the nation's best educational institutions and goes on to earn a substantial amount of income. HELLO! We call that the AMERICAN DREAM. Not a conspiracy. Haters goner hate.
ReplyDeleteHillary's in New Hampshire this week. The Granite State was won by Hillary in 2008 and they adore her. The circus left town yesterday and now New Hampshire gets to spend time with the only adult in the campaign.

ReplyDeleteLatest CNN poll: Hillary leads all Republicans by double digits.
Local Brooklyn Republican party cannot even afford to rent office space. Call Hillary on Pierrepont Street in the Heights. She'll let you use a storage closet. Maybe.
We're excited to tell you that Hillary is coming to New Hampshire today! Follow her trip on twitter at hashtag HillaryinNH
ReplyDeleteAmerica needs a champion Brooklyn, and Hillary is that champion.
Amy C is a beat reporter who doesn't have the critical thinking skills to write about these issues. Her piece is so negligent and the Times will wind up back tracking if not fully apologizing the same way they had to back track and apologize with the email nonsense story.
ReplyDeleteAmy would do better to keep writing about hair and chiptotle. She's good at that.
Brooklyn has a Republican Party? .
ReplyDeleteYeah, and they have a Rent is Too Damm High Party too. Same thing.
Clinton's double digit lead over every GOP candidate in today's CNN poll proves that her campaign is spectacular and the only ones believing in the GOP smear tactics are those who wouldn't vote for Clinton anyway.
ReplyDeleteThe Clinton Foundation will end it for Hillary.
ReplyDeleteIts blood money made from the soldiers who died in Iraq
Another right wing nut above who doesn't even know what the term blood money means.
ReplyDeleteHey Everyone,

Sure we do.
ReplyDeleteAnother "right wing nut" knows that a while ago, Hillary's share of the drug money coming out of the CIA shuttle operation in Mina, Arkansas was something that could rightfully be called "blood money," whether she was in on the details or not. Then she was just "Hillary Rodham" even though married to a guy named "Clinton" or was that "Blythe."
Happening Now:
ReplyDeleteHillary supporters are standing in the cold pouring rain waiting for her arrival in Keane New Hampshire.

ANNOUNCEMENT: THE "OBVIOUSLY I HAD THE GIRLS IN TO DO SOME 'CLEANING' AND THEY LEFT A MESS" EDITION
ReplyDeleteSince we've gotten a taste of their nonsense, we'll try to maintain some decorum among out new lady guests in the future.
But before things get too administratively technical, mull this over you sweet young things:
We knew all along that Hillary was never into the mothering thing. And now look, she's brought her own "Pretty Baby" meets "Baby Doll" daughter Chelsea into the family business, as in the "Bill, Hillary and Chelsea Clinton Foundation" sort of a Michael Corleone moment, don't you think. Sorry to so mix up my movie metaphors and introducing so much masculine imagery.... Also for the literary types, Tennessee Williams and Mario Puzo would turn over in their graves.
Back to the "Pretty Baby" metaphor, let's leave aside the whore pimping her own daughter bit, but you have to love it; do you think that a contemporary Susan S is too young to play Hillary C ? Too bad Hillary isn't Chelsea's aunt like in "Baby Doll," Mildred Dunnock would have been perfect, she always played old and plain so well.
