FOR BROOKLYN GOP INSIDERS THIS IS BIG NEWS: Georgea Kontzamanis gets a new $125,000 job at the Board of Elections

STATE SENATOR GOLDEN FINALLY DELIVERS BIG BOE JOB LONG-SOUGHT FOR KEY OPERATIVE GEORGEA K.

Many GOP insiders still tell stories about Georgea Kontzamanis running around the 2013 Brooklyn GOP Convention even though she didn’t belong there. At the time, everybody knew that Marty G had promised Georgea K big things for her various acts of loyalty.

According to a report by Celeste Katz in the Daily News, Georgea Kontzamanis, who has worked a long time on the Marty Golden team in the Brooklyn GOP, will make about $125,000 a year as the newest member of the BOE's executive team (See “NYC Board of Elections evens the score for GOP with new six-figure manager job” by Celeste Katz, 1/6/15, New York Daily News/ Daily Politics [http://www.nydailynews.com/blogs/dailypolitics/nyc-board-elections-evens-score-gop-new-top-job-blog-entry-1.2067874).

As far as the formalities go, the News coverage probably said it all.  This part is quite enlightening: “Creating the new position of "operations manager" -- which wasn't publicly advertised -- balances the number of top Board administrative positions between Democrats and the GOP. ***   Executive Director Michael Ryan and Administrative Manager Pamela Perkins are Democrats, while Deputy Executive Director Dawn Sandow is a Republican....  The creation of the job came shortly after a changing of the guard among the commissioners: Queens Republican Michael Michel is now president.”

SO WHAT DOES GEORGEA K’S NEW JOB ENTAIL ?

Here’s what Georgea said about it: "I'm humbled by the support and excited for a new opportunity....  I understand that the responsibilities will be set forth and worked out amongst executive staff and the commissioners."   Well, that’s clear enough for her, I suppose.  Maybe, Marty Golden has already told her what she’ll need to do.

  2. They created a $125,000 job for a high school graduate with limited skills.

  3. That's the way it is now that the Republican "Electeds" took over the Board, Oddo, Golden and the rest.

Marty Golden has thought some of these spots were "his" for years. That was part of what his split from Eaton was about.

  4. It is a damn shame that our very own electeds such as Marty Old Man Golden think that they can spend our taxpayer money willy nilly. Think about it, they just created a job for a woman without any college degree, and never even sought resumes from the public to see if they could get somebody more qualified or experienced. It is political patronage at its worst...doesnt Golden realize he should be better than this now that he is under federal investigation?

  5. The article is interesting in many ways. The comments on here are equally as interesting. Why would Golden choose a high school grad over some of the college grads working in his office?

  6. Everybody has missed another villain. Simon Shamoun had to be more than Marty's sock-puppet on something like this, but he fell down on the job again. This is another example of lawyer Shamoun being the active agent of Golden's corruption at the BOE. It looks like 2015 will be another year of Golden's SOS.
