Charges that LaGuardia Club pulls rug on Brooklyn GOP and its ENDORSED candidate Marcus Nussbaum
Push to remove Potter and Ferraro from party posts
A fully signed petition sheet naming 46th AD executive member Lucretia Potter to be the Assembly Candidate in the 46th was turned over to officials of the Brooklyn GOP.
Again, there is a bunch of finger pointing about some under-the-table deals by Brooklyn GOP Vice Chairman Arnaldo Ferraro and certain Democrats over the issue giving Wilson-Pakula endorsements ( ...and we all know where that can lead) in 2014.
Some key Brooklyn GOP officials are pressing for the immediate removal of both Mr. Ferrraro and Ms. Regina-Potter from their current party posts of Vice Chairman and Parliamentarian, respectively.
The LaGuardia Club's homepage still lists Nussbaum as its candidate for the NYS Assembly in the 46th AD.
ReplyDeleteThat fact would make Potter's run for the Assembly a pirate operation that is typical of what comes out of Ferraro's club.
Ferraro and Potter must be removed from their posts in the Brooklyn Republican Party.
Wrong.
ReplyDeleteLocal party leaders are free to support any candidate to run within the confines of their Assembly district without any "approval" from the County Executive Committee or its officers.
The County and its officers have no authority in local A.D. matters -- never have, never will.
The cornerstone of Republican philosophy is local control.
Once a scorpion always a scorpion.
ReplyDeleteMarcus Nussbaum was duped. He isn't I-talian so he is expendable in LaGuardia Land.
ReplyDeleteUPDATE & BACKFILL: THE “FORMER STATE SENATOR DAVID STOROBIN ENDORSES STAMATIS LILIKAKIS FOR ASSEMBLY” EDITION
ReplyDeleteMORE 46th AD NEWS
As seen on the Stamatis Lilikakis - Assembly home page:
“Former State Senator David Storobin has announced his endorsement of Republican candidate for the 46th Assembly district seat, Stamatis Lilikakis. Storobin said, ‘Stamatis understands the needs of our community. As a business owner he will be a strong voice in Albany for middle class families and small business.’ *** Sen. Storobin ran for the City Council last year, winning a majority in the overlapping portion of the 46th Assembly District.” (See Stamatis Lilikakis - Assembly home page [http://www.steveforny.com/former-state-senator-david-storobin-endorses-stamatis-lilikakis-for-assembly/]).
This means that David Storobin is still all-in for the Golden faction RFC in spite of its losses to the Brooklyn GOP at the ballot box in 2013, at the 2013 County Convention and in court in 2014.

ReplyDeleteWhat part of the post above is "Wrong..." ?
The way I see it, whatever deal Potter & Ferraro made for Nussbaum with Akselrod backers fell through when the GOP denied Akselrod the Wilson Pakula. So Potter had to step in for the race then since the jig was up.
ReplyDeleteYou forgot a word at the end of that statement.
DeleteThe jig was up _________.
The County still has no voice or role in the selection of a candidate from a local district.
ReplyDeleteThe County endorsed Nussbaum because Potter and Arnaldo asked for that. Now Potter and Ferraro have shown the world that they are nothing but two talkers and backstabbers.
ReplyDeleteArnaldo Ferraro should have no voice or role in the 45th AD or the County organization. Bounce both Potter and Ferraro from their HONORARY party posts.
ReplyDeleteStatement from Marcus Aurelius Nussbaum
Republican District Leader 46 AD
In view of recent circumstances, whereas our club, the Fiorello LaGuardia Republican Organization, is being unjustly accused of "pulling rug" from under my candidacy for the NYS Assembly in the 46 Assembly District, this is to state in no uncertain terms that this outrageous speculation has no merits since the decision not to run for the NYS Assembly in the 46AD was mine and only mine. The leadership of the Fiorello LaGuardia Republican Organization then fulfilled its responsibility by running another candidate for the NYS Assembly in the 46 AD, a seasoned Republican Leader, Lucretia Regina-Potter.
It is necessary at this point to refresh the memory of the Brooklyn GOP zealots that any duly elected District Leader needs no approval or permission from anybody to run for the NYS Assembly in their respective Assembly District. Similarly, a newly minted Republican candidate running against our organization, never bothered to contact or to seek the endorsement of the official Leadership of the Republican Leaders in the 46 Assembly District and the Fiorello LaGuardia Republican Organization.
This is once more another dismal example of the internal battles within the Brooklyn GOP that leads only to more divisiveness and weakness. These factions are not interested in building up our beleaguered Brooklyn GOP, instead they are hell bent on destroying it from within. The problems that affect our beloved Brooklyn Republican Party do not lie with those people who are trying to breathe new life and vitality into it, but with those who continue to perpetuate the stagnant and diseased status quo.
That's amazing. The whole time Marcus was "talking", I didn't see Lucretia's lips move once.
DeleteArnaldo and Lucretia do not have "Honorary" positions. She is an elected State Committeewoman, and he is the elected Vice Chairman of the County Committee.
ReplyDeleteWhere to begin....

***Question: Why did you change your mind? Why the straw-man argument?

***"Seasoned"

*** Question: Who said any registered Republican can't run?
Similarly, a newly minted Republican candidate running against our organization, never bothered to contact or to seek the endorsement of the official Leadership of the Republican Leaders in the 46 Assembly District and the Fiorello LaGuardia Republican Organization.
***Answer- I guess Marcus did.

***New Life? That would be Lilikakis or you, no? Not a dinosaur like Lucretia.
Potter is the HONORARY parliamentarian because she can't legitimately hold two positions on the Executive Committee.
ReplyDeleteFerraro is the HONORARY Vice Chairman because he has failed to attend the meetings of the Executive Committee.
OMG - almost forgot - they both resigned.
t's over for Lucretia and Arnaldo whenever Craig says it's over.
Craig who?
ReplyDeleteHe vanished long before he won the court case.
So "new life and vitality" will come by running a "seasoned" candidate who hasn't won a primary in the last two cycles, but won't come from a first-time young candidate like Nussbaum (or from Lili-what's his name?)
ReplyDeleteAnd no one needs "permission" to run, except for that Lili-what's his name guy, because he didn't ask for it?
Anyone else dizzy from all this spin?
The future of the Brooklyn GOP can't be in the hands of people like these.
ReplyDeleteGolden and Cochrane rightfully wouldn't deal with Arnaldo and Lucretia. If they did they would be in charge right now, but it was not worth dealing with Arnaldo and giving him what he wanted.
Vote Republicans for Change in 2015.
Rumor has it that Marty got rejected by the honorable Dr. Ferraro. In any event, Republicans for Change is anything but...
ReplyDeleteNow that's a brand new "Dr. Ferraro" "Rumor".
ReplyDeleteSOme say "Rumor", some say "spin" and some say "latest lie".
