Two successive articles on the Daily News – Daily Politics blog demonstrate that neither guy running for mayor will represent just plain folks
New PAC announces ad reinforcing Lhota’s message that the people already know — I kid you not !
A gathering of a big chunk of the NYC Democrat Party base – certain unions – was having a pre-celebration of their guy, Bill deBlasio. All it showed is that deBlasio is a leftist tied to left leaning public employee, service employee and CIO-style unions, with all their PACs and agendas (See “Bill de Blasio Shows Unions Some Love, Debuts New NYC 2013 Song” by Mara Gay, 11/1/13, Daily New/Daily Politics [http://www.nydailynews.com/blogs/dailypolitics/2013/11/bill-de-blasio-shows-unions-some-love-debuts-new-de-blasio-song]). These lines say it all, “The Bloomberg years are over, Bill de Blasio said Friday.... The Democrat, appearing before a large crowd of union supporters at a Brooklyn campaign rally, promised he would respect labor if he is elected Tuesday - and get tough on big money interests instead.” Who cares about deBlasio’s new Hugo Chavez-like song; it’s the song and dance that he’s had all along that is the problem. For all his talk of making the rich pay, everybody who is in the know knows that deBlasio will make everybody pay.
The news about the Republican-Conservative candidate for mayor, Joseph Lhota was the polar opposite. The biggest news was about a big money gift from an out of touch big money guy to pay for an out of touch new PAC to run an ad for an out of touch status quo guy running an out of touch status quo campaign. Whatever ! All of it is too late to make any difference anyway (See “Pro-Joe Lhota PAC Fires Up Spanish-Language Ad, Thanks To Big Check From David Koch” by Celeste Katz, 11/1/13, Daily News/ Daily Politics [http://www.nydailynews.com/blogs/dailypolitics/2013/11/pro-joe-lhota-pac-fires-up-spanish-language-ad-thanks-to-big]).
Get this, here’s what Celeste Katz said about the new PAC’s Treasurer: “...Treasurer Craig Engle on Friday wouldn't make a prediction as to whether Lhota had any hope of closing a yawning gap and defeating de Blasio on Nov. 5, but said Lhota's message could resonate in the home stretch before the Nov. 5 vote, "especially as it relates to schools, families and safety.... Our PAC is a fresh voice reinforcing things that people already know," said Engle.
Great, the big news is about spending a rich guy’s money reinforcing Lhota’s message that the people already know ! Oh, and did I mention that this ad is just aimed at the “Spanish” or “growing Hispanic population of NYC”...... Shhh ! I guess we don’t want the Latinos to get in on it.
I think earlier I did mention “out of touch”....
This contrarian attutude towards Lhota leads me to believe that you are voting for the Libertarian candidate for Mayor.
ReplyDeleteHaven't finally decided who Galewyn Massey will support for mayor.... Definitely not deBlasio; probably not Lhota; possibly Salgado or one of the other "Third Party" or Independent lines....
DeleteVery interesting that in spite of the noncompetitive race between the "Major Parties," there was so little coverage of the other candidates....
deBlasio is 6 ft 5 inches tall.
ReplyDeleteThe ticker dosent last two long for one with that height.
Ready for Mayor James?
At this stage in the election Lhota could spend as much money as Ron Lauder did and do about as well as Ron Lauder did.
ReplyDeleteOf course lets not forget what Lauders sponsor Mike Longs goal was for Ron to siphon off enough votes in the general election so Dinkins could get elected.
It worked !!
Shhh..... ! ! ! Don't talk about "...sponsor Mike Long['s] goal[s]...." for Republicans, Conservatives and others.... We are working on those themes for future posts on this blog.
