Big Day for Kings County Republican Chairman Craig Eaton -- Today, Eaton's slate of State Committee Members was approved and installed by the New York State Republican Committee -- Simultaneously, Pro-Eaton mailers hit County Committee Delegates' mailboxes

State Committee Members Proposed by Eaton were approved by GOP State Committee over objection of a few  Brooklyn State Committee Members affiliated with Marty Golden's "Republicans for Change" faction

GOP Chairman Craig Eaton runs on a record of almost unprecedented electoral successes in pre-convention mailing to County Convention Delegates

After a longtime member of the Republican State Committee from a hollow GOP district on the Brooklyn-Queens border had risen to disrupt normal procedure and object to the replacement State Committee members to fill  the seats still-open  after the 2013 Petition-Primary process,  the State Committee Counsel attempted to steer  NYS Chairman Ed Cox against a ruling to seat the Eaton-proposed replacement committee members.  Chairman Cox then made two key rulings:  first,  that NYS Republican State Committee Counsel Jeffrey Buley had to stand down, because he had previously had a hand in legal proceedings to remove some of the replacement State Committee Members proposed by Chairman Eaton;  second, he favored  the Eaton slate to be seated as members of the State Committee from Kings County.  As a result, the new State Committee Members will serve as Distrcit Leaders  in the previously vacant districts through September of 2015.

Meanwhile, back in Brooklyn, most delegates had received a mailing  on Monday or Tuesday with an envelope emblazoned with a flashy sidebar that culminated in this   "It was the biggest Republican upset in decades . . . Democrats lost a Brooklyn congressional seat they had controlled for an entire century . . ."    That mailing was touting the performance and accomplishments of the incumbent Kings County Chairman Craig Eaton.

The most important component of the pro-Eaton mailing was a detailed letter of endorsement from former Brooklyn-Queens Congressman Bob Turner.  Among other favorable comments about Mr. Eaton, Turner  made this important point about the impact of  Craig Eaton's leadership:
"...What you don’t know is that the man responsible for me becoming the Republican candidate for Congress in that special election was Brooklyn’s Republican Chairman -- and your neighbor -- Craig Eaton. ***  Craig Eaton was the first person to suggest I should run. He fought for me, when other party leaders were talking about running other candidates, because they didn’t think we could win..."
That letter was accompanied by an Eaton  palm card whose main pitch was the following:  "Brooklyn’s most successful GOP Chairman in half a century needs your vote at the County Convention to continue our winning streak..."

The card also identified and characterized  the menacing force  faced by Chairman Eaton and all  "Brooklyn Republicans" like this:  "At the upcoming County Convention, Craig is being challenged by those who opposed his reforms, and who want to turn back the clock, and keep local Republicans fixated on a single section of our borough. That’s wrong, and it’s what has kept Republicans from winning for so many decades...."

  1. I actually attended the Convention. A slight adjustment to your synopsis of the events. When Jeff Buley started to legally discuss what should be done with the various Motions relating to the Slate of Brooklyn State Committee Members, Eaton demanded that Buley recuse himself, since Buley, who acted as Counsel to the NYS GOP at the Convention, chose to represent Golden and his RFC in connection with litigation relating to CC contests in Brooklyn. It was actually funny. Buley looked very annoyed and immediately sat down. Good for Eaton. He stood his ground and protected the Brooklyn GOP State Committee Members against another unfair action by Golden and his crew of losers. What a disgrace for an attorney who works for the State GOP, of which Eaton has been a Chairman for over 6 years, to work on a case to help the opposition try to unseat a County Chairman - isnt there any decency in the GOP? I guess you all know the answer..

    1. Thanks, for your report from the front in this battle for the Brooklyn GOP.

btw, who made the motion(s) opposing seating the Eaton-proposed State Committee Persons ?.

  2. It was Diane Rudiano. Which is dumb, because Marty Golden has already told Georgia that she is getting Diane's job by Thanksgiving.

I especially love the one where Craig forgives Marty and wishes him the best, but that Golden staff -- blecht ! ... they should all die miserable deaths for what they've done...

    1. ... even better was the pro-Eaton letter from a retiring GOP District Leader that suggested Golden should fire his staff from their silly staff jobs because they have "brainwashed" their boss....

  6. UPDATE: IRONY OF IRONIES EDITION

While there was plenty of evidence that Craig Eaton had sent out mail saying that he'll be working to elect Marty Golden in 2014, there have been multiple reports that the very same Marty Golden, himself, has been making personal phone calls to County Committee Members to trash his hand-picked County Chairman Craig Eaton, and to get votes and proxies for a new County Leader/Chairman handpicked by Marty Golden.

    1. This ain"t irony. It's eiether a lie or complete stupidity. It isn't Golden, but it is the staff of Golden's. Who can believe that BS?

    2. The Eaton and Gallo letters are dripping with irony, sorry that you missed it.

The sarcasm and threat implicit in the letters requires an informed inference to be made by the reader, Therefore, a literal reading of the letters yields a magnanimous bonhomie toward the incumbent Republican State Senator and an understandable animus against his rogue staff.

The letters are BRILLIANT -- magnanimous, diplomatic and ominous.

  7. UPDATE: PRE-CONVENTION MEDIA --- NEWS-EXTRA EDITION

Just when Marty Golden and/or his "staff" ( wink -- raised right forefinger to the right side of the nose -- nod ) thought it was safe to go back to his/their mailbox(es)....

    >>> ANOTHER MAIL BLITZ IS ABOUT TO HIT --- FROM GW <<<

I detect a theme developing. It sounds, and probably even looks, something like an intervention to help the "NEW MARTY" (like the "NEW COKE" of the 70s) stop "looking like a bad guy" and getting him "...back to his old, true self..." or like the "CLASSIC COKE" version of "MARTY".... There are also some proprietary images from yester-year that should really hit that sweet spot for Golden old-timers. 1. Thanks for the lead... Jimmy Vielkind's article "The Rapfogel money trail" posted on the Albany Times Union's Capitol Confidential blog is well worth a look to show Brooklyn Republicans and Conservatives some of what the "NEW MARTY" has been up to lately. Vielkind's report about the closed circle of cash donations to the state senator from Rapfogel's insurance company and cash back in the form of member grant funding for Rapfogel's former community group is quite interesting, as is Golden's connection to the scam that involved two recently ejected and discredited legislators from Brooklyn -- named Vito Lopez and Carl Kruger.
