SUNDAY ROUNDUP: Those interested in the Brooklyn GOP leadership fight are waiting on the Court for Decisions in what’s left of the Election Cases; the Brooklyn Young Republican Club announces an endorsement vote for mayor and comptroller at its next meeting — Sunday, August 11th.

AT LAST,  ELECTION CASE DECISIONS THIS WEEK

With all of the line-by-line and other evidence presented and the arguments made, Brooklyn Supreme Court Justice David Schmidt must render several decisions after having “reserved” on several unresolved matters submitted for his decision(s) by the parties.  Except for the very unlikely scenario of (an) appeal(s), all sides in the Brooklyn Republican leadership fight are waiting on the Court and the BOE for a final roster of prospective GOP committee members, both state and county, and candidates for committee membership running in the September Republican Primary. The court is expected to hand down its decisions early this week for of the handful of undecided cases still pending before it.  —  Some or all of those decisions might be handed down by the end of business on Monday.

The complete list or roster of prospective unopposed GOP State and/or County Committee members, and GOP State and/or County Committee candidates appearing on the GOP primary ballot will probably not emanate from the Board of Elections until later this week, after the BOE has been served with all of the court’s decisions.

BROOKLYN YOUNG REPUBLICAN CLUB gathering to vote “Yea” or “Nay”....

Meanwhile, the Brooklyn Young Republican Club (the one that looks like it has the brand new State Committeeman for the 44th AD, Glenn Nocera, as its President) has put out a notice of a meeting on August 11th, which is a very short turn around from that club’s July meeting that was held only last Sunday.  The main order of Young Republican Club business is an endorsement vote for mayor and comptroller. According to the club’s notice, “At this meeting we will be holding a yes or no endorsement vote for Joe Lhota for mayor and John Burnett for Comptroller. The Board of Directors have [sic] recommended these candidates for our club’s endorsement. Eligible voters for this vote are paid dues members for 2013 under 40 years old.”  (Just how much are these very young “paid dues members” getting for their votes “yea” or “nay”?  ---  Jes' Jaeckin' !)

In addition to the endorsement vote, there is a scheduled guest speaker  —  Republican Assemblyman Steve McLaughlin.

When: Sunday, August 11, 2013,  2-4 pm

Where: Ceol Pub [Back room]
           191 Smith Street
           Brooklyn, NY

  1. A yea or nay vote? That's how it's done now? That's a choice?

Pretty funny. Is this what Republicans for Change is all about?

Also, I hope no one (someone!) emails Joe Lhota this video of the new District Leader in the 44th AD and Brooklyn YR President Glenn Nocera.

    1. Does old gale support the message of the new district leader in the 44th AD? Doing a good job of ignoring the video.

If that were someone (anyone) else I don't think you would remain silent.

      Just sayin....

    2. I've seen quite a few of Glenn Nocera's video renditions and I do have to say that some renditions to secret places were more fun. And for me personally, none of them is up there with "...raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens, bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens, brown paper packages tied up with string, cream colored ponies and crisp apple strudels, door bells and sleigh bells and schnitzel with noodles, wild geese that fly with the moon on their wings, girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes, snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes, silver white winters that melt into spring..." --- none are among my favorite things.

As to the particular video mentioned above, I'd say it was more like "... just one of those crazy flings, one of those bells that now and then rings, just one of those fabulous flights that good old Glenn occasionally has, like a trip to the sun on gossamer wings, it was great fun for Glenn..." --- but, really, it was just one of those things.

      Jes sayin'...

      1 craig eaton
      2 marty golden
      3 moron #1
      4 moron #2
5 any other non laguardia club member

made a similar video that you would not be so kind.

      Just sayin...

    4. Maybe, maybe not.... It depends if I were in a kind mood....

Why just yesterday I bumped into somebody [most would describe that person as a key player in the "Republicans for Change" crowd --- But, for a few technical reasons I would not]. Things were pleasant between us; he/she even made a self-deprecating quip related to an possible GOP primary that had been avoided. I responded, "When is everybody gonna put all this stuff to bed ? It's not doing anybody any good."

Frankly, at that point, his/her answer was a little disappointing, because it showed he's/she's not yet his/her own person in the GOP leadership flap. Here's what he/she said: "I'm only ____ [ a description of one part of his/her current situation vis a vis the Brooklyn GOP that would immediately identify that person].

When I added that I thought who ever came up with the idea of "Republicans for Change" hadn't really thought it through, the person remained friendly, but responded confidently, "We'll have to see how it all turns out, before we can say anything about that." To me, that meant he/she was still 100% with the RFC program.

Nonetheless, we parted as friendly as when we'd met.

  2. Come on guys and gals can't we communicate just a little for all The Republicans.

A yea or nay vote are you all for real?

I mean I like Joe a lot, but he his not the right man for the job of Mayor of The City of New York.

What did he do for the subway when he was the boss?

I mean look at some of the other blogs like Carolyn Katz, he picks and chooses his questions to answer.

If you need to have a yea or a nay vote please ask him questions that effect us all.

Dirty Streets and subways, is their going to be a fair increases.

The Stations on the Subway are so hot, what is he going to do about this and people sneaking on the trains and buses all the time or using the same metro card over and over for the same family.

Ask about women's rights, gay marriage, what's his plan for the schools.

Ask about unions and what is he going to do be just like Rudy was or his he his own man?

What is his plan for the Police and stop and frisk?

Please ask tough Questions and please make sure he answers them and please look at his posture and his eyes to see if he gets nervous or if he is lying.

I mean I love this guy again and I can see he is a nice man and again I just don't think he has what it takes to run The Greatest
    City in the World.

Will he be a Mayor for a select few or will he be for all the peoples?

Demand answers. A yea or a nay just does not cut the mustard.

    1. All the Republicans for mayor openly supported Democrats in the past, support gay marriage and have a fiscal platform more liberal than Christine Quinn.

    2. And one of those Republicans is endorsed by the Conservative Party and running on the Conservative party line. How do you explain that ?

    3. I have a theory.

Marty golden wanted simon shamoun to be commissioner.

The city council gets to pick commissioner.

      City council republicans worship rudy.

      Rudy backing lhota.

Kassar sold his line to ensure marty's deal with council goes through.

      Dots.....

  3. I sit here and as I drink my coffee I think.

This war within the Republican Party is it really worth it and in
my mind now I think of Abe Lincoln.

    What would he do?

Don't even answer this if you don't know, but I know exactly what Abe would do.

Abe is thinking his country is falling apart by Civil War and he care's about the South and the North and he sits in his room pacing for Lincoln was Bi Polar.

    He cries A lot!

Lincoln now sits in Heaven and he is still crying for what you all are doing here in Brooklyn, New York!

  4. UPDATE: Late Monday morning I had a a lengthy conversation with somebody close to the leadership team of one of the factions in the Brooklyn GOP leadership fight.

Regardless of how the BOE and court cases come out, the Brooklyn GOP leadership team of Craig Eaton did far better in all aspects of the petitioning and the objections process than the "Republicans for Change" crowd expected. (The same can be said about the independent LaGuardia Club effort in the 46th AD...)

At least one side intends to have a targeted pre-primary campaign aimed at letting the rank-and-file Republicans in contested districts know that they have a voice in shaping the Brooklyn GOP going forward. The messaging will urge the prospective GOP voters to look behind the titles, offices and party posts, and look at the real causes of the perceived decline of the Republican Party in Brooklyn and thoughout the State of New York.

    1. It's too big, too ethereal. They'll never make inroads with voters with some argument about how reelecting Craig Eaton is going to make the GOP stronger in NYS.

  5. They will never make inroads with voters with some argument about how electing a Marty Golden Puppet named Timothy Cochrane will make the GOP stronger - since Golden will be the puppet master - especially when Golden is really a RHINO and is in bed with the Democrats like all other Senators in his conference.....remember the Caucus that they put together to keep the "majority" - not really a majority is it?

    1. Too similar negative comments --- "Anonymous August 5, 2013 at 2:02 PM" and "Anonymous August 5, 2013 at 2:53 PM" --- except that each comment maker is clearly describing the team on the other side in the Brooklyn GOP leadership war.

Here are some questions that each side need to address: "Does it really make any difference who wins ?" "What is your team going to do to change things ?" "Why wasn't that done before ?" "Why didn't we hear about your side being for that before ?"

  6. I am a member of the Brooklyn Exec Committee and would like to respond: Q1 - Response: Yes it makes a difference - you need an independent Brooklyn GOP - not one controlled by Golden or for that matter, any elected - remember, DiCarlo, Bronx - Vellela......Q2-Response: Get rid of RHINO Golden who does not want, and never wanted to see the Brooklyn GOP build and prosper - because this only makes the Cons weaker, and if more Republicans are winning, Golden base, support and $$$ get split among tooo many electeds: Q3 - Response: See answer to Q2 - simply because every time the Brooklyn GOP started winning races and getting stronger, Golden would do something to stop their momentum - ever wonder why Golden held a free cocktail party each year one week before the Lincoln Dinner?? The Answer is obvious. Q4 - Response - we have always been working to build and grow - hey, we won two special elections in one year.....but Golden doesnt like a successful GOP, doesnt want a successful GOP and will do everything to stop it. Puppet Cochrane will hold all his events at the Bay Ridge Manor - Golden will be very ha$$y with that.....

  7. Funny news - I just heard that Timothy Cochranes family member donated $$$$ to Vincent Gentile recently...it funny because he is the uncle of John Quaglione who is running against Gentile...check it out on Gentile's Disclosure report. He will make a great Chairman - well, actually, isnt Golden a Democrat also?
